On a Mission to Make a Difference

On a Mission to Make a Difference

In January of 2018, I packed up my Jeep and headed east.

I had decided to volunteer for the first time with All Hands and Hearts. Hurricane Harvey had made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane in August of 2017, yet there was still a lot of recovery work to be done. In fact, All Hands and Hearts was still there helping with recovery efforts through March of 2021. This is one of the reasons I have come to love this organization. They show up early and are often the last group still chugging along while most people have already forgotten the name of the disaster and the communities affected.

This organization builds relationships within the communities they serve in order to respond effectively and efficiently to disasters, before transitioning to critical long-term rebuild projects. And they do this world-wide.

Now it’s 2022 (almost 2023) and I’m finally reconnecting with this beloved organization. In February of 2023, I will be headed a little further east (by plane this time) to southern Florida. Hurricane Ian hit coastal Florida in September of 2022 and there is still much work to do. I am looking forward to making a physical impact again.

Maybe now you’re wondering how you can get involved?

1. Learn more about what All Hands and Hearts is about by visiting their website. allhandsandhearts.org

2. Donate through our Orange Blossom Pilates fundraising page so we can collectively see our impact! give.allhandsandhearts.org/orangeblossomcares

3. Come to one of our Charity Mat Pilates classes. Classes are just $20. Half of that amount will be donated directly to All Hands and Hearts. orangeblossompilates.com/booking

We have a goal as a community to raise $1500 before I leave for Florida. As I type this, we have 1 month and 19 days left! I know that by banding together, we can accomplish so much. Thank you for your part in this community. Your support means so much to me.
